That's what Microsoft and Epic are hoping, but can it really happen? Can another shooter really become the killer app of the Xbox 360? I believe it will.
Both graphics and gameplay wise -- GoW blows all other competition out of the door. Look at any PS3 game currently in development, and tell me it looks better than Gears of War. Everything about this game graphically is amazing when you see it in action; multiplayer and single player.
Gameplay wise, Epic and MS are really making it "accessbile to anyone, yet somewhat tricky to master". Just like the original Halo, so it sounds. Multiplayer also brings something new to the table in that it truly is slower paced than most games out there. Also, it allows you to be "revived" by a teammate once your health is drained, and you're on the ground bleeding out, simply be pressing X. That being said, if, say a Locust gets to him before you do, and presses his X button, he'll release a thumping head-squash on your teammate, putting him out of commission for good in one of the modes of "Last Man Standing".
Overall, I truly think Gears of War will be that tripple-bypass-surgery of awesome that the Xbox 360 needs to truly sell millions of systems, and trump Sony. Oblivion started the process, Gears of War will keep that going, and Halo 3 will end it all. Come here soon Gears of War, I'll be waiting for you!
Here's a bunch of links to sweet screenshots that I didn't want to post here, for size reasons. Enjoy!
Good screens, and I must agree with you. The Gears of War marketing machine is about to go crazy, I can feel it. It seems as if the final version will truly live up to its future hype. And gamers 'round the world know the name Epic, along with Bender (fairly inside joke, hint: Marcus).
Hopefully, Gears of War isn't overlooked. But how could you miss such a pretty face?

Talk about taking the headshot to a new level of pwning. But yeah, Gears of War ads are already appearing in countless magazines now, but I expect commercials to appear around later to middle October.
Sure, Dark Impact might not agree, but Gears of War will DEFINITELY be my must-own game this November. Come to think of it, late October to early November will be quite eventful. First we have GoO, Gears, and countless other titles releasing like Rainbow Six: Las Vegas, Splinter Cell, and of course the new consoles. I'll only be getting Gears and GoO, but have to admit I'll be there on day one when those PS3/Wii kiosks open up.
Wow, that just gave me a great idea for a new contest! Won't spill my idea here, or any details (because there aren't any), but expect an email pretty soon, if you want to know.
Wow, are we the only two here interested in Gears of War or something? No one else is hardly viewing this thread, let alone posting. Of course, we're not the busiest forum at this point either...
Well, I don't know much about GoW, actually I've never heard of it before now, but then again I don't have a 360, am not planning on getting one, and probably won't be all that interested unless is has a good story.
That plus the accessibility of Halo for PC is why I'm such a Halo fan.
Well, it's coming out for Windows Vista as well... but who knows when it will. So you'd have to buy the new OS, on top of extremely powerful graphics cards and such... I'd just go with the 360 version (no reason NOT to get an Xbox 360 anyway).
Score! I'm getting Vista anyway, and I already have a kickass graphics card. I have no need to get a 360; my friend's getting one when they're cheaper.
