New Members Gather 'Round The Campfire Here!

So, with the influx of new members to the forum, and lack of posts (it's that holidays people, give us a small break), I decided to attempt to create a new "Introduction" forum to help everyone get to know eachother better.  Unfortunately, once logged in to CK's long-dead account I couldn't find the "new forum" setting anywhere.  So until I can, this will be here in place of a whole forum.  Enjoy!

The format of how you introduce yourself can go as far or as little as you like.  And you can also choose between your info in the world, or on the world-wide-web.  I'll start us off:

My name is Matt and I started "working" here at the UNSCDF in February 2006.  Over the past months I've mainly been more of a newsposter, rather than a total article-writer.  You could say I'm lazy in that respect, but when you combine these big analytical articles with tough schoolwork, it's not that hard to choose which to complete.  But I do make up for it in different ways.  In the past two-three months I've: interviewed Anub1s from Broken Console, interviewed Louis Wu of Halo.Bungie.Org, pushed for new and improved pages on the site, and, oh yeah (you MIGHT have heard of this) thought up the whole Eric Nylund Contest thing, along with interviewing him and getting him and his blog as affiliates.

I started off with "The Halo Nation" on an old Freewebs site, The Halo 2 Haven, and held that for a year.  Held it until, you guessed it, February of this year.  It did relatively mediocre-to-bad hit numbers wise.  Probably due to the fact that  we didn't go and promote the site like hell, like other Freewebs users did.  I was partnered with two other members, UnrealChief (still around and helping us now), and this guy named Todd.  Todd made about one post, then left, and UnrealChief was just too busy to do much -- so basically the site was all me, which was incredibly taxing.  Luckily now I (somewhat!) have other members to fall back on, so it's not all ME that's doing everything around the site these days.

So enough of me, what about YOU, the members?

FOA, props to you for setting up the whole fanfic contest w/Eric. That was awesome.

My name is Jeff. I'm in the active duty Air Force; been in for about 4 years now and liking it. I started reading a lot when I hit technical training. Then when I got deployed, I took a stab at writing seriously for the first time since there's a lot of free time in the desert. I've done a lot of writing since then. Recently, my confidence in writing has hit a high ever since I was a winner in the above mentioned contest. My story was "The Argo".

Not much more to say about me other than I'm a big Halo fan. I would consider myself a guru in Halo matters and I think it's what really helps me with writing fanfiction on it. Just read my story "The Argo". You'll see that I literally stepped into uncharted territory with that one...and it doesn't involve the Chief!!!

Heh -- looked at your profile and saw you were stationed somewhere outside of LA.  When you said "desert", I had immediately thought "Iraq".  Guess I was a little off.

Everyone else: start posting, don't be shy or anything.  36 or so members, and hardly any posting is not a good thing!

Nellis?  Edwards?  (would guess El Toro but they closed that down, was a Marine base anyways - guess it was too nice for them )

Err, so me huh?

My first name starts with an R but i wont tell you what the rest of it is!
I'm a student at a small college in Iowa, it sucks, i'm leaving at the end of the semester and going into automotive mechanics (i'm obsessive about cars).  I love history, weapons, warfare, and of course automobiles.  Three most desired sports cars:  2005 Toyota Celica GT-S, 1967 Toyota 2000GT, and 1991 Ford Taurus SHO Plus (all have yamaha engines  )

I got hooked on Halo in Dec of 01 when my friend picked it up.  I saw the commercials and would have killed someone for an X-box and Halo copy, but alas I had to wait until Jan 03 to get one.  Those 14 months were the most amazing experience of my life, surprisingly, i did great in school during those times too, becuase i was always looking forward to going to the LAN's on saturdays at my friends house.  Anyways, i'm still hard core halo although Halo 2 ruined the experience for me (sry i just didnt like it at all) - i sold my X-box 8 months ago and havent played Halo 2 in almost a year and a half now.  But i will be getting an x-box 360 soon, and Rainbow Six as well.  Rainbow Six 3 helped me live without Halo 1 multiplayer 24-7, so Vegas is gonna help me live without Halo 2!

So before i write my life story i'll shutup now.  Oh one more thing, i write Scripts and did a little bit of filming for the 305th Helljumper clan, i also write out fan fics (which means i get to write w/e i want about the other members)

When I first saw Barksdale AFB, LA in drafting up my "dream sheet", I thought it was Los Angeles too, but it's Louisiana.

And by desert I did mean Iraq. I was stationed in Kirkuk for 4 months. Interesting times to say the least.

I also did a one-monther in Israel which was more like a vacation. Very excellent times.

And then I did a 3-monther in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. This was the point in which I first started writing.

All this was when I was stationed in Germany for 2 years.

Now I'm at (Louisiana). Heh. There. Cleared that up.

That's cool you like cars. I love 'em too. I have my list of dream cars as well.

For strictly racing it'd be the Bugatti Veyron. Cruising: Aston Martin Vanquish-S. SUV: Ford Lightning

Family car: A Maybach of some sort.

mmm Bishkek sounds like a fun place, to be honest i'd rather be in Duschanbe but I can't complain too much.

Aston Martin Vanquish V12 is an awesome machine, you'll probably be surprised to know that it is basically 2 taurus engines put side by side. It has the exact same bore and stroke as the 24V Taurus from 96-05, and has twice the cylinders/valves/displacement and twice the power.
Duratec 30 w/VVT - 3.0L DOHC 24V V6 - 225hp/200ft-lb
V12 Vanquish - 6.0L DOHC 48V V12 - 450hp/400ft-lb

Have you seen the new Sport Trac Explorer that is to replace the lightning? It doesn't look too bad but i'm still upset for scrapped SVT. It was the only thing keeping us up with FPV in Australia and the ST series in Europe

If I could have 3 cars....I'd get a 1991 Ford Taurus SHO Plus edition for the daily driver, a 2007 Volvo S80 for the weekend travel car, and a 1999 Ford Taurus SHO w/ Dual Intake Runners, 5 Speed Swap, Straight Pipes, 4.0L Over (total of 375hp N/A) bore for my weekend terror car :)

Nice lineup. I'm a Ford guy as well.

I love the new Volvo body styles too. Ever since Ford took them over, they started looking nicer...and they're still safe and economical.

I actually own a '93 960, before Ford took over and it's a great touring car. Great for long trips and grocery runs.

I also own a '96 Mustang Cobra vert. Looooovvvve that car. Always loved the late-model stangs. I'll never sell it.

I rev it up at V6 mustangs alot, and whenever i see a cop and am by a V6 stang i make sure to rev it up real high, that usually has the cop flying out to chase the mustang lol

No offense Electromotive and Roland, but could you take the car talk to either a different thread, PM's, emails, or IM's?  It's just that the thread is getting extremely cluttered, since it's main purpose is a "get to know you" kind of  introduction thread.

Greetings, i'm Silver Phantom 2. But seeing as how that's a might long to type, a lot of people just call me Silver, SP2, or just Louis. However, if you're feeling Haloey on that particular day, you can just call me Spartan-109.

In spite of recent news, I'm oblidged to keep positive, so here it goes.

Well, my first name is Kenneth and I've been a Bungie fan since Oni on my uncle's Playstation 2. During that time, I was a self-confessed Nintendo addict - sporting a Gamecube and burning anything with an X in it. It wasn't until 2002 that I discovered Halo's multi-player while I was staying at a friend's house. Needless to say, and to my inner Nintendo fan-boy's dread, I thought it was brilliant. There was four players on a cramped screen, Scorpians were often used and screen-looking was at an all time high. But damnit this was great. The deal was sealed when in 2003 I bore witness to the Halo 2 Announce Trailer, and finally, in June, I bought my own Xbox and discovered the joys of the Halo LAN party. Live followed soon after, and the rest is history. Or it is to me, at least.
As for me, I'm planning to go into the Royal Air Force or work as a journalist, but I'm currently at college trying to look alert. I'm a part of one of the most well renowned UK based Live clans - DOT Realm - and am currently putting together a large scale LAN fest with all the works. Sans the large scale and all the works.

A lack of money is proving problematic, y'see.
