Gosh, I just got the game today, and it's really pulling me in. The story is pretty good, the gameplay if cool, the only thing to complain about is the voice work, but I can get over that. I can't wait to get my hands on the book for it.
Yeah, a book for Gears would definitely further solidify its place as another Xbox killer app. Look at the popularity of the Halo books -- Microsoft would be dumb to not hire someone (Eric?) to write the novel adaptation of Gears.
Even if it's a prequel much like Fall of Reach, it's definitely something that's needed. Gears didn't exactly explain a lot of things, and to the average person who picks the game up who hasn't been following it for a year they're left out in the cold story-wise. So yeah, I see a book in its future.
Do you have any other complaints about it, Grantix, now that you've probably played it a little more by now? Ending perhaps?
I still like it, the ending was crappy, only because I was kinda expecting a cutscene like they get back to base and eat some food and have a good time... instead of them riding off in the sunset over the Imulsion spewing mountains while that voice talks about how the Locust aren't dead.
