Now now, don't get your panties in a knot.. yet.  It's not something I can totally confirm or deny as of this time.  But it may very well happen.  Here's the story:

A week or so ago, Mercury contacted us after a long delay in answering emails with bad news -- he's shutting down our host site, solidmercury.org.  He just didn't see a need for it anymore, and was tired of spending the money on it.  He said things like he didn't want to see us die, but said there was no choice in the matter if solidmercury.org died, and said we should probably start looking for a new host.  Well, after replying back to him, and him doing the same, he said that he may be able to work something out for us yet, but that we shouldn't bet on anything -- still look for a new host.

Then, there's the CK troubles on top of this whole thing.  I'm not a technical guy.  I barely know basic HTML for colors, sizes and the whatnot.  So transferring our design and content over to a new site for me would be like trying to learn rocket science.. in a weeks time.. from a book written in Spanish.  So obviously the technical do-dads and whatnots were always handled by CK.  And despite finally giving me a heartfelt message via email, he says he doesn't know when he'll be back; "could be tomorrow, the day after, next week, next month, or next year even".  Doesn't sound good.

On top of that, LoneRanger's asking for a two or three week break from the site.  I know he hasn't really been doing much lately, mainly due to this personal problem he's trying to iron out, but him leaving his position as basically an advisor to me isn't making things better. 

And on top of THAT, Saint is simply nowhere to be seen.  He wrote his article, said he was interested in the Blog, but then poof -- nothing.  I'm starting to actually think asking him to join was rushed -- he did a fine job on The Library, but that was when he was by himself.  Nowadays he has a whole staff to rely on.  Believe me, I know what it's like to be the only one doing anything on a site, and then moving to a relatively active site; you think "oh, I'll just let such-and-such handle that newspost" or "he'll write the Weekly Update this week, I don't feel like it". 

I'm not ashamed to admit that I've done the same thing when on the UNSCDF, but not to the extent as this.  The fact of the matter is though.. I can't do all this work on my own.  I mean, I can't learn how to transfer the UNSCDF to a new host, negotiate, pay for it, post news, write articles, post articles, and then  do stuff on the Forum and Blog.  Especially when it's not even my site!

So in the end, under these conditions... I can't see the site going on.  We need help, and we need help as soon as humanly possible.  The end of this month is the amount of time we have left until Mercury is expected to pay for the site (and that's looking like a "no").  We need help.  We get help, or we die. 

If it all comes to that.. I believe we die well, with a great legacy within the community.
